About Me

I'm Rob Golbeck—a husband, father, web professional, and someone who has been living with type 1 diabetes since 1991. For over three decades, diabetes has shaped how I approach my health, habits, and priorities. While it comes with challenges, it has also driven my commitment to staying active, eating well, and continuously learning how to better manage my condition—especially as I age.
I live in Tsawwassen, British Columbia, with my wife, Jennifer, our son, Nate, and our dog, Boomer. Family life keeps me grounded and motivated in both my personal health goals and professional work.
Currently, I work as the Internet Project Lead at WorkSafeBC, where I manage complex web projects and digital publishing initiatives. I’ve worked in the web industry since 2007, with experience spanning web development, digital content strategy, and accessibility. My current professional interests include web accessibility, artificial intelligence, and project management—but my personal passion lies in finding practical ways to stay healthy, active, and informed to not just survive, but to thrive with type 1 diabetes.
Fitness plays a central role in my life. I follow a consistent strength training program, walk regularly, and incorporate cardio to support both blood sugar control and long-term health. I also enjoy cooking, especially experimenting with high-protein meals and low-glycemic recipes that help maintain stable glucose levels without sacrificing enjoyment.
This website brings together these intersecting parts of my life: my experience living with type 1 diabetes, my commitment to health and fitness, and my work in digital project leadership. Here you'll find articles, recipes, workout tips, and personal reflections—along with resources and tools that support long-term diabetes management and overall well-being.
